When a website doesn't work there is always a reason. Even the most experienced designers and programmers may inadvertently overlook an element in the user interface that doesn't delight its users. And let's face it, today's websites cannot be merely functional, they need to amaze. It may seem daunting, but one surprisingly simple and efficient tool that every web designer – or even business owner – should be using to create amazing experiences is usability testing, a process that should be done at multiple points during any project lifecycle.
Join us at this hands-on workshop where we will craft a user testing plan and deploy our tests. At the end of the workshop you will learn how to:
• Identify testing goals and write the test plan.
• Craft appropriate testing tasks.
• Determine the best testing method to meet your goals.
• Analyze testing data.
• Present information to product owners. Agenda
5:00 – 5:30 - welcome 5:30 – 6:30 – craft and deploy the tests
6:30 – 7:00 – review test data and present our findings
I am looking for a volunteer to submit one site that will be used in the workshop to demonstrate remote testing. If you would like to have your site used, please submit the site URL and your email address no later than May 2, 2014.
We will also be using multiple sites to demonstrate moderated in-person testing. Please bring your laptops, site suggestions, a collaborative spirit. :) Snacks and drinks will be provided.
