Tango Thursdays is Brooklyn's favorite live music night that features exclusively Argentine tango. It's hosted by the guitarist Adam Tully and his trio, which usually featured Emilio Teubal on piano and Pedro Giraudo on bass.
It's not a milonga (dance event) but it's very dance-friendly. We have a dance crowd every week. There is usually at least one guest tango singer who sits in with the band, and sometimes a guest musician or two.
There are many regulars, everyone is friendly, and we (the band) have a great time playing and hanging out. We even talk about tango history and celebrate the birthday of one great tango composer every week.
Tango Thursdays was founded in 2009 at Pane e Vino in Cobble hill and lived there for 6 years. The main group, founded for Tango Thursdays, was the trio Importango (Machiko Ozawa, violin; Octavio Brunetti, piano; Adam Tully, guitar).
