A "Milonga" is a social dance gathering in which only Tango songs are played. The usual structure is 3 to 4 songs (paired together by theme or artist) followed by a short random song to signify the break between the next set of tango songs. This gives you time to grab another partner! The sets of tango songs are together called the "Tanda" and the random song in between is called the "Cortina".
At this particular venue, the tandas are 3 songs long, and the cortinas are played all the way through. So you'll have a chance to dance something else in between such as a fox trot, swing, or salsa.
Also, this studio gives it's own lesson to anyone interested at 8:00PM with Cynthia and Ubaldo. They're a great team and can produce some of the best performance tango in the city. Come see their exotic moves!
The Milonga follows right after at 9:00PM, but people start trickling in much earlier.
