Dear Tantra-in-Texans,

I will be conducting a workshop on Close Intensive Retreat at the Triangle Community Room on April 11, and wanted to give you a heads-up. This workshop does NOT replace our usual Meet up on 4/15, which will proceed as announced.

Close Intensive Retreat is a period you set aside --from one to ten days-- to do only spiritual practice. 'Only' means: no TV, no computer, no clocks, no phones, no guests or family members; no pets, no work, no music, no travel. Those connections to the world are surrendered. The better to embrace: ritual activities, centering prayer, meditation, visualization, mantra, yoga, simple food, tea, bathing, silence, spiritual texts and reference works that explicate those texts.

I hear you thinking, so what's the big deal? Who needs a workshop for that? Where it gets tricky is setting up the boundaries. Sealing yourself and your spiritual-guidance system in; sealing the world out. That involves defining your intention, choosing the practice that is appropriate to your purpose, and closing the retreat space. Karma in the Crucible will guide you through that process.

'Close Intensive Retreat' floats about halfway between meditation and the monastery.

Here are the top five reasons to take this workshop:

# You need a break. . . through,
# You're not ready to join a monastery, but it is starting to look attractive,
# The edges of your current practice are curling up and turning yellow,
# You're ready for less noise, more signal,
# Curiosity (assuming you're not a cat).

The workshop is 39$ in advance, and 45$ at the door. Limit is 30 persons. Please see for more information and to fill out the registration form.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to contact me with any questions!
