The Tao is central in my life. I love joining with others guided by the Tao and growing together.
I have been interested in studying Tao since the 1980s.
Someone gave me a book in the 80s. Then in the 90s, I was formally introduced by my Chi Kung teacher.
The Platform Sutra of Hui Neng and Tao te Ching are among my favorite books. My favorite Tao principle is that we all have a true true heart and can cultivate Tao in our daily lives by reflecting on our intentions and actions.
As a teacher, Chapter 17 of Tao te Ching spoke to me. I substituted teacher for leader, and the chapter informed my teaching practise. ("The wise teacher is the one who the students barely notice, then comes the one who is loved and adored...etc.)
I believe that Lin Yutang's translation may approach the subtle meanings in Chinese.
Great discussion as usual.
