Yes, hoarding is an addiction that can make life miserable for the hoarder and for the ones who are living in it with him or her. I know -- I used to live with one. Yikes.
Good news: tapping works on this stuff too. Why? Hoarding is anxiety-based. People hoard and clutter because it truly does give them a sense of relief from anxiety. Being in open, organized, spacious areas sends their fear levels through the roof.
Tapping can help with this. If you or someone you know needs help, come to this meetup to learn techniques that will change lives.
If you are the one wanting help, bring one item you would like to let go of. The goal for this meetup will be to LET GO OF THE ITEM WITH HAPPINESS AND PEACE. YOU WILL LET IT GO ONLY WHEN YOU ARE READY. YOU WILL TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU IF YOU ARE NOT READY. NO COERCION HERE! ONLY LOVE, UNDERSTANDING, WILLINGNESS AND HEALING!
My goal is for you to go home, having let the item go completely without any sense of guilt, shame, fear, loss or grief. Letting go of that thing will be your proof that you experienced success with tapping. Then you can go home and do it again and again for yourself, one item at a time, at your own pace. I believe that it's love that heals anyone of anything, and you will love yourself more after this meetup than before.
At this point I plan to welcome you again to my apartment (it's cheaper for everybody than a restaurant!). But if one of you has another suggestion, such as your apartment, I'm open to ideas. I may also find a restaurant where we can have a private space at no extra charge as long as we order a minimum of snacks, for example. What would you folks prefer?
As for the date and time, I'm open to that too. RSVP Yes if you are interested and let me know what days of the week and times work best for you. I'll do my best to accommodate everybody. It seems Monday-Friday works best for folks who have emailed me so far. It also seems that arriving by 6:30, then starting the actual class at 7:00 sharp, then finishing at 9:00 sharp is good. I'm free afterwards if you want to have have Q&A, discuss, visit, hang out, or just sit in a colorful, somewhat spacious (feeling), non-cluttered New York apartment. :-)
