We are single men and women 40 and up who like to cook, eat, learn, and read about food.
Dinner with a twist…
“You know that scene in the deli from the movie When Harry Met Sally? That’s what I feel about food when it’s really good.” This quote, from Malcolm Gladwell’s novel Blink, is from a woman who is a professional food taster. How’s that for a dream job?! If you’re like me – single, 40+ and you enjoy cooking, learning and reading about food as much as you do eating it, then pull up a seat and join us at the dinner table, in the classroom, a book discussion - or anywhere else our stomachs may lead us.
And now for the twist…
A great dinner party combines great food and great conversation. But let’s face it, for some people striking up a conversation with strangers is about as much fun as a root canal. To get the conversation rolling – and away from the standard “who are you and what do you do for a living” – we’ll be using one of Table Topics’ conversation-starter cubes: Original, Dinner Party, Not Your Mom’s Dinner Party, or Gourmet. I've also got the electronic version of Catchphrase which will be fun to play in teams in the right setting. My hope for this group is that you will enjoy some great food, some unique food experiences and make some new friends along the way.
Also on the menu: food-related festivals, food tastings, classes, demonstrations, farm tours, outdoor concerts/picnics, day trips, and weekend getaways.
Book Club Brunch:
The Book Club Brunch is part social/part group book discussion over brunch. Book brunches will be scheduled about every two months and the chosen book's focus will be food - go figure! Everyone should bring a discussion question or two along with their appetite.
Use the Discussions tab to share favorite recipes, cookbooks, websites or anything else food-related.
Before joining Tastebuds you should carefully read the policies which can be found on the Pages tab. Here you will find information on RSVPs, No-shows, Membership Fees, Guests, Participation, etc.
