  • December 1, 2012 · 8:30 AM

Join us as we taste our way through 4 English villages: Bath, Bristol, Lacock and Shepton Mallet. During this 36 hours tour we will be spoiled by a 10 course meal & wine tasting at Bath’s best Italian restaurant, sample our way around the historic city of Bath, tour the Pride and Prejudice filmset, Lacock Village and be treated to an Olive Oil tasting, by the Dragon Den’s star, The Olive Oil Man. Transport

We have a 'experienced' meetup member driving the minibus, instead of a chaffered minibus which would cost around an extra £70 per person.

Hotel:

After 7 hours of searching online (ridiculous, I know), I finally found a hotel that can fit 15 people. I'm very pleased with the quality of the hotel (There's some real 1960's dumps out there charging £[masked] per night!) We are in the center of Bristol, 20 minutes from Bath.  Hotels in Bath are £200+ and the general feeling of the group was they'd rather spend less on the bed and more on the food and shopping. And I like the idea of people being able to sight see during the down time at the hotel. There will only be a few hours of free time in Bristol, but it should be enough to walk to the suspension bridge or a charming village or to museum/shopping district. I'm going to do a recky and will be organsing a mini walking tour for you.

*This is one of the few hotels with 11 rooms available in this price range within 40 miles of Bath.

Onsite: Bar, Restaurant, Swimming Pool and exercise room, very reasonably priced spa treatments. It's modern, clean and has great reviews online.

The itinery looked good from the start and Kelly found a lot of options to make it a really different weekend, such as the historical tea house, the private cocktail chill out room and the olive oil tasting selection. It was great to travel with such a friendly group and see some venues i would never have found for myself. We didn't get to everything which was a shame but we were tring to fit in a lot without it become too regimented. I like that we still had some flexibility to choose. Kelly was a great host, always friendly, approachable and fun - while trying to educate us as the wine flowed too! I'm going on the Paris trip and hope it also includes some quirky venues and variety too.

This sounds amazing... I'll test it out and see what's it like: A vintage, curiosity, boutique, cocktail bar that is set within the underground lodgings of a 17th century dungeon located in the heart of the world heritage city of Bath

Hi, thanks so much to those that have already booked. This thread is for me to keep track of room request. And for you to request a room mate if you see someone on here you know. I'm fairly good at matching personalities (I'm secretly a matchmaker - for friendships too!) So don't worry about making a request, I can sort it out for you.

Hello! Great news!!! I've managed to secure a booking for coffee in the PUMP ROOM, which they don't usually do on the weekends. (I had to pull my weight around!!!)

It's the restaurant above the baths and you can drink the spring water (which taste like the stones) and listen to the piano! Very excited in deed! Click for a vitural tour - http://www.romanbaths.co.uk/Tours/Panomorphic_Room_Hire_Tour/Pump%20Room.html Now I just need a hotel that isn't sold out to fit us all!

WOW! What a great response!!! I'm going to look at booking 15 beds. If you are no longer able to do the 1st Dec. If you need a single room, would you post a comment, I forgot to ask in the questions. I've sent enquiries to several hotels, plus for the minibus and train... so hopefully will have all this packaged up by the end of the week. Cheers,

    Kellly

    Hi Kelly,
This sounds like a splendid idea and I would be most interested in exploring that beautiful and historically rich area of England.

The photographs look very nice, however I think a couple of those buildings could do with having those horribly old fashioned windows ripped out and replaced with some nice new PVC Double Glazing.

I'm sure it would reduce their heating bill, but it would also reduce the charm!! I get the humour in it though
