Tastour Mistletoe Party (Sunday Lunch - bring and share)

  • Dec 9, 2012 · 12:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let's get together for London's best Sunday Lunch, it's a gourmet Bring and Share, it's a fine wine fair and (an optional) secret Santa - all rolled into one big party, the Tastour Mistletoe Party!!!

(Don't let this cheesy photo put you off. Cheese and wine go very well together!)

Why do a bring and share?

1. We are a group of foodies.

2. There are some very talented people in this group: you either know how to make it or where to buy it... both very worthy talents in my book!

3. In the past, our bring and shares are more like a Jamie Oliver commercial or the BBC Good Food Show, than friends sharing a meal.

The wines will be fairly unusual.... It will be like going to a fine wine fair - there will be around 20 different wines to try, some costing over £25 per bottle.

4. They are always good fun, the food is always spectacular and the company's even better.

What to bring:

It's a Bring and Share. Please bring a dish. Most people will spend around £10 on the dish, however, you can spend as little or as much as you like. I've had some very tasty canapés which cost £2 for 10 of them, so don't feel you need to splash out!

If you do buy it from the store, please only buy from delicatessens / speciality food shops, or make sure it's so good, we won't know the difference (we all have a few of those tricks up our sleves)

We will have ovens/stoves to heat your dish

If you would prefer not to bring a dish, please bring a bottle of desert wine or sparkling wine.

You can bring your friends, or just come on your own.

Would you please make a note of what you are bringing in the comment section?

OPTIONAL:

A present for a boy or girl (unisex) worth around £10.

For those that want to, we'll do a numbered secret Santa. This means that presents are swapped trough out - it's very fun and festive!!!

(I promise you won't have to wear the hats)

Time: 12-4

You're welcome to arrive from 1pm, we'll plan to sit down for lunch at 2pm. The hall will be hired until 5, however, there are many local wine bars nearby (or we may even float back to my flat)

If you'd like to help set up, we'll be in the hall from 11:00am

Address:

St Stephen's Church

Shepherd's Bush - on the Corner of Uxbride Road and Coverdale Road (Marked 1 on the map below)

The entrance to the hall is on Covendale Road.

Central Line, Circle Line, Hammersmith and City, Overground from Hampstead and Clapham.

You'll be right next to the Westfield's Shopping Centre, so you can do some Christmas shopping before of after!

I'll provide:

Food: A Roast of Duck, Chicken and / or Goose, depending on the numbers. (fish on request for vegetarians)

Beverages: mulled wine, tea, coffee, water. I will also provide a generous selection of both red and white wine.

The wines will be fairly unusual.... It will be like going to a fine wine fair - there will be around 20 different wines to try, some costing over £25 per bottle.

Hall Hire and Decorations: Although the money goes to charity, the hall is still expensive, and I'm planning to decorate it to make it a warm and winter wonderland. The hall is beautiful and needs little decoration, however, I do hope it has a little bit of a wow factor to make this an extra special day for you. (If anyone would like to help decorate, please arrive at 11:30pm)

I'll also provide the Christmas trimmings like crackers and general party supply. I'll be hiring a few helpers too.

We need 20 people to commit before I book the hall, so please don't delay and signup today!

Cost:

Please note, this is not a profit making event. As with all things food and drink, there are cost involved and your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Only £22 if booked by the 1st December. £26, if booked after the 2nd Dec.

In jolly Christmas cheer, I've waived the late booking fee, if you book by Friday. If you would like to attend, and not drink wine I can reduce the price by £8 (please buy a ticket at full price and email me)

Bon Vivant Members, log into the website to see your savings.

This includes the meat for the main course, the venue fees (which all goes to charity) and around a bottle of wine per person.

*if you are not drinking, please buy a ticket at full price, and I can offer you a discount for the wine. Just email me.

Oh and if you're wondering about dress code... it's winter casual. Warm and comfy.

Here's what not to wear:

I hope you agree that this is a nicer, more personal, and less expensive option than going to a restaurant for Sunday lunch.

If you haven't been before, I look forward to welcoming you into the Tastour Family! And for those that have, I look forward to sharing a very special meal with you!!

Best wishes for jolly good cheer!

Kelly

PS Afterwards we can either go for a walk / wine bar or do this...

I am somewhat relieved that there is not a compulsion to cook.

I will play it safe and bring an agreeable bottle of Tokaji and something cool from the delicatessen.

    November 13, 2012

    • Kelly

I have yet to meet a bottle of Tokaji that I didn't agree with!!!
