Valentine's day is meant to be spent with the ones you love and I've spent mine working on things for you! (Not all of it was looking at the funny post on facebook whilst savouring an amazing new Prosecco for you to try) I did cook a lovely Guinea fowl for dinner, which I must say was a great change and a tastier version of chicken!
I was researching event sites to post our events on to attract new members and I found a few interesting discoveries in my google searching...
This Friday, we're hosting our signature speedTASTING: Introduction to Wine, how to taste wine, without wasting time. For me, this event brings together everything: social, learning, and taste adventures!
Up to this point, I've only been aware of one company offering the speedtasting format. However, they do not offer wine education, nor do they offer quality wine! I've just found a company that is offering a speed tasting event. They are charging £66, which is £27 more than I am...giving less wines and time to socialise, not to mention no food. Pretty amazing huh?
The other thing I found was a few 'forgotten' reviews of our speedtasing event:
London Insider says:
"Kelly takes the time to explain each wine, guide a comparative tasting and impart numerous facts in an informative but entirely fun way. What’s more impressive, though, is that she actually knows when to shut up. Having visited other tasting events throughout the capital, it’s instantly apparent that one of the trickiest things to get right is finding a balance between giving guests the information and facts they want and still giving them an opportunity to chat amongst themselves."
"Based on our experience, we couldn’t recommend Tastour highly enough, whether you’re going on your own or with friends."
"we reckon is a massive bargain"
"It’s not hard to believe that Kelly won last year’s Wine Educator of the Year. She’s warm, funny and knows her stuff. Do you know the difference between wines whose grapes have been left on the vine for late harvest and noble rot? She will tell you all about it without even blinking."
"Overall, I found it to be a surprisingly enjoyable and informative evening. My fear of sitting between a flock of snobs was unfounded; the average punter is intelligent, well-travelled, loves his food and is hungry for more knowledge which made for a pleasant, civilised crowd. It’s worth mentioning that it was some people’s first time coming to such an event."
I hope you will excuse me, if I sounded like I'm boasting a bit, but my Americanisms are kicking in! (As some of you may know, I've spent 8 weeks at my parents' in Florida over the holidays, working on the new website and putting the finishing touches on our 2012 events. Oh, and of course I did spend a wild and crazy weekend at possibly the best Tiki bar in the world: Captain Hirams!)
I just wanted to share with you the good news and to encourage you to come along and join us in all the fun! :)
It's now 2am, so time to sign off and say, see you soon!
