Ramblers Scotland are at the Heart of Walking. We are looking to increase the number of people walking with our groups and joining the Ramblers across Scotland.
Building on the success of our young groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow, we’re now keen to establish a group in Tayside to provide more walking opportunities for people between 20 and 40 from the area. The group would provide a range of walking and fun social activities for its members and support other Ramblers activities, such as path maintainance and local campaigns where there is interest.
To date we have hosted 9 walks that have included Birnam Hill, Dalmeny Estate, the Lomond Hills and Loch Leven path. Those that have attended have thoroughly enjoyed the walks and would like to walk more.
We have publicised the group through Facebook, with 130 followers, and have started a Meetup group that has 40 members.
The next step is to transfer the group to the hands of the members. We would like to start a committee and are looking for volunteers to take on some key roles. We also need people who would like to lead walks for the group. We will still provide as much support as required to ensure the committee can take on the responsibility and can run a successful walk programme.
I would like to invite you to come and meet the staff involved and discuss the opportunities the group can provide. We will be able to tell you about the committee roles required, what they entail and the commitment involved. You will be able to put yourself forward for any of the roles you like. Once we have a core of people we will facilitate a committee meeting and the setting up the autonomous group.
The meeting is on Monday 9th June, 6.30 - 7.30 at Tiso in Perth. We will be upstairs in the Fit Food Bistro and will provide coffee, tea and sandwiches for all who attend. Anyone and everyone is welcome.
If you are interested, but are unable to attend, please email [masked] or call[masked] to discuss involvement.
