When I ordered the chocolate teas for our 2014 Collection, I ordered samples of 6 more chocolate teas to evaluate for our 2015 Collection. Come help us decide which teas are 'worthy' to be added to the collection!
These are the blends: Cordially Yours (cherry chocolate) black tea, Chocolate Strawberry black, Almond Joy black tea, All American Chocolate Cupcake black tea, Whispering Angel white tea and Smores black tea.
What we'll do ... using tasting cup sets with measured tea samples and timed steeping, we will infuse as many of the samples as we can get through. For each sample, we will do three infusions. We will taste a sample iced and a sample with sugar and milk. We will infuse a sample in spirits, probably vodka, and taste that. It's a tough job but someone has to do it.
We will make notes about how the tea stands up to three infusions, how it tastes iced and with added milk and sugar. Then we will note how it reacts in spirits. We'll make notes about foods that would pair well the tea and any other general comments that come up.
I work from and make notes in my book - Tea Taster's Journalby Elaine E. Terman. I may have created my own tasting sheet by then. Feel free to bring your own tea journal or pad of paper and pen. I have some Tea Taster's Journals for sale $15.95.
From past experience, I have found we can get through two samples in an hour and a half, leisurely. I'll have palate cleansing snacks and water to drink, as well as what is needed for the Tea Tasting. We will be experimenting with a more streamlined tasting process in April to try to get through more samples in the 2 hours.
A special invitation to those of you who are chocoholics as well as tea drinkers - I am not a chocoholic. Would any of these teas appease a chocolate craving? Do they live up to their name?
