Teachers, have you ever found yourself frustrated with your students and reacted to them from this place? What if you learned to come from a place of happiness, love and acceptance, while still going for what you want in a big way? This group is based on in part on the works of B.N. Kaufman, co-founder of the Option Institute and author of Son-Rise, Happiness is a Choice, and more. While this is the focus, we are also open to all ideas that encourage us to be reflective about the way we teach. Another favorite book of mine is The Courage to Teach by Parker Palmer. He says, "As I teach, I project the condition of my soul onto my students.... teaching holds a mirror to my soul. If I am willing to look in that mirror and not run from what I see, I have a chance to gain self-knowledge - and knowing myself is as crucial to good teaching as knowing my students and my subject."
This group is meant to be a safe and confidential haven where we can explore how we feel , examine our actions and reactions, look deeply and courageously within ourselves and see how our inner life affects our teaching. Be prepared to be challenged as we continue our growth as teachers.

“Hi Bertica, I would like to get a job within the Austin or surrounding school districts and was wondering if you had some suggestions. Currently, I teach JPK for Children's Courtyard, but have my two weeks notice and ready to do the real thing. Any suggestions you have, would greatly appreciated. Hope to meet you at one of the meetups.”
