Training Program details: The five to six month training program mixes running, cross-training, social activities, and lots of fun! Traditionally, the training starts off in the last week of April in Central Park with slow and easy runs, and a few stretching and strengthening sessions. The team trains together at Central Park on Saturdays. For weekday and Sunday runs, the runners are encouraged to find and train with other Team Asha runners. Experienced Team Asha runners are assigned as mentors to help support new runners through the training program. A timed-mile run is scheduled for all runners at the end of May to determine the capability of the runners, i.e; beginner, intermediate, seasoned. Around the same time, through interactions with mentors and coaches, the runners pick their target half or full marathon for the season.
