TRAINING RIDE: Conshy SRT

  • Conshohocken SEPTA Station

Harry Street & Railroad Street, Conshohocken, PA (map)

    40.071804 -75.306915

  • Meet in the SEPTA parking lot behind the "Outbound Station" store, at the corner of Harry & Stoddard (Note that Google Maps incorrectly says Railroad Street instead of Stoddard). If you cross the tracks on Harry you went too far.
  •

** We roll at 9am, please be there early to get your gear together before the ride.

New for 2013, we will have riding groups.  Instead of trying to have everyone stick together, we'll have a ride leader for 2 groups.

    10-12mph Group

    14-16mph Group

If you are in between (12-14mph), try riding with the 14-16mph group and if it gets too fast, hold up and let the 10-12mph riders catch up with you.

Faster riders are welcome to ride off the front of the 14-16mph group, we can catch up at certain rest stops.

This training ride is on the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT). The SRT's a paved trail, mostly flat, although we try to include some hill spurs at times. Normally, we ride from Conshy out to Phoenixville or Oaks and back.  Or some days we can ride to the Philly Art Museum and back.

If you need to contact me within 24 hours of the ride, please call or text me at[masked]-6990.

    Cheers,

    k

Do you ever do this ride on a Saturday? I can't do any rides on Sunday but love to travel the SRT. And it's always more fun with people.

That's cool. The easiest time for me to ride is Saturday, usually mornings. So I'm out on the trail at some place between Port Providence and the Art Museum. I would be open to lead but would need to chat about how and tips and such. I also am probably going to join Charlie on one or two rides (maybe per month) to get used to road riding since I know I'm weak on that.

Sounds good, Mike. Actually, let me know when you're going to a Charlie ride and I can talk to him about giving you tips for possibly leading a Saturday SRT ride. He'll have great info for you. And by going on his ride, you can see what he does. it's pretty straight forward. Then when the time comes, I can help you setup the post here on the Meetup and I'll try to make your first ride to go over the last details. And then we can see how it goes. Just by posting it attracts riders because emails go out every week. And you'll be able to shape the ride however you like - it'll take on your identity in terms of where you want to ride, how fast you want to ride, and people will come to identify it for those traits - and you'll build a following. The only caveat is that Fall and approaching Winter might not be the best time to start because lot of riders are winding down. But putting a new ride on the calendar for Spring usually gets a good amount of attention.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
