The backend: Amazon Web Services and other options to power your applications

Amazon Web Services is launching a new feature every couple of months. They have recently introduced server features (SSD, provisioned EBS) that are very attractive if you host your own database. They provided hosted Mysql and Dynamo databases.

Heroku is very strongly promoting Postgres with some interesting features (text search)

Nowadays it seems that you can get a lot done without an IT team and without breaking the bank.

Do you have a database powered backend? Come share your experiences with various hosting providers.

As always BYOI - bring your own ideas :)

Guys, Bob will be @ Sudwerk and keep the conversation moving tonight. Unfortunately a combination of personal and work problems don't allow me to join you :-(

I am really sorry about this.

Will there be a sign and/or check in with the Host/Hostess at Sudwerks?

There isn't generally a lot of work involved. We can certainly stay inside, if you prefer. Let's try that, I will get a table inside and put some signs.
