Press Panel With TechCrunch, Business Insider, and Fortune

For our inaugural event we're hosting Jonathan Shieber of TechCrunch, Alyson Shontell of Business Insider, and Erin Griffith of Fortune. We will collectively vent a bit about bad pitches, explore strategies for acting like humans around press, and go over the incentives and pressures facing these gracious, top-tier journalists.

Yes, there will be beer and snacks.

Rough Agenda:

6:30 - Arrive and talk to each other
7:00 - Panel Discussion
8:00 - More mingling
9:00 - Get kicked out

Entry fee will be put directly towards snacks, beer, and thank you gifts for our panelists.

Hey Alex. Frankly, not yet. I suspect I'll organize something in September, but if you have any ideas for a topic, happy to consider it.

Great panel and event overall. I live-tweeted a bunch of it and just put it into a Twitter Collection, if anyone is curious:

Haha, no problem. It was a good one, I just had to make the rules known.

Wondering if this event ended up being recorded?

Hi Paul, we planned on videotaping it but decided not to because the panelists felt it might prevent them from being as frank as I'd like. We did end up recording the audio, but I'll have to check with them before we release anything. I'll put an update on here when I do so though.

Very off the cuff but helpful and relevant. Added a lot of value to my time. Thanks!

The MeetUp Map shows the event Close to 136th St., but the Google Map says it is Close to 23rd. Google is right, right?

Is it horrible that I became extremely worried when I read 136th Street? -_-

It does this to Turn to Tech every time in the app. Me thinks a map listing needs to be corrected.

Looking forward to some human connections. As an actor, I can relate to being unrelatable at times.

Nice concept of App. I downloaded it to geo-locate posts of my Solar and Wind project installations.
