This month we have a very special event that has become an annual tradition. We're hosting IDC Herzliya's top 2009 Zell Entrepreneurship Program grad students for an American Idol style competition. The student teams are coming from Israel to present their startups followed by group Q&A and live SMS voting. This event will be held at Baruch College's beautiful Engelman Recital Hall.
Presenting Startups:*
Wisebo - Browser plugin that displays your Facebook and Twitter friends recommendations on movies and other products you see while surfing the web.
Funkkit - web site that lets anyone design, buy and sell sneaker stickers for almost any shoe. If you've got kids, you'll be hearing a lot about this startup.
Locktell - patent-pending screw-bolt automatically signals when loose. Saves millions in plane, train, automobile and housing maintenance.
GameSpeak - enables PC gamers to text and voice chat using their existing IM accounts (e.g. Skype) while playing games in full-screen mode.
“ The organization was great as always, Yaron is the greatest :-)
However, this particular meeting was more about half baked ideas and not proof of concepts, so as much as I enjoyed it, I was hoping for something more tangible. ”
“ Yaron, as always it was awesome. It was great to see the next generation of Israel's enterprenuers.
I admire the work that Liat is doing with the Zell Students. ”
