Here is a conceptual explanation the logo design. I steered away from pictorial interpretations of physical items and chose the BTB acronym as a typographic mark because the organization, as I understand it, embodies the non-literal ideals of technology, innovation, inspiration, and community. The BTB acronym also helps preserve previous recognition the group has gained through its use, which is another very important aspect. The strong, modern angular direction was inspired by both the Maryland state flag and technology as an innovation defining sector. (Technology so diverse in it's application: engineering, systems design and development — basic wikipedia definition: making, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific function). Technology "shifts shape" but is united in its goal to build/bring resolution to our lives. This determined that the mark should embody a shape that is built on a modular grid. The angled bits that form the acronym represent independent innovative individuals coming together to bond as a supportive community. The gradated coloration is a simplified recreation of the sun rising to start the day. The blue connects inspirational aspects of the technology while the metallic gray complements with the idea of sturdy matter. This diversity of nuances subconsciously work together to for a unique iconic solution that communicates the core ideals of the organization as I understand them: technology, innovation, inspiration, and community.
