Make it Sew - Public Sewing Meetup

Have you always wanted to learn to sew? Or maybe you know how to sew but want a group to sew with. At Make It Sew we will have fun creating useful items with fabric, thread and a sewing machine.

Due to space limitations for this day, we will be capping this Meetup at 15 people.  Please RSVP below.  There will be a wait list, so please let us know if you will be unable to make it.

Members and non-members welcome!

All levels are welcome and we will work on a variety of projects over time. Sometimes we will use store bought patterns and sometimes we won't.

    Thanks for coming today! I hope you had a great time. Next month we will do another UFO sewing day before starting a quilt in October!

    It looks like I'm not going to make it today. I accidentally ate something I'm allergic to last night. I even had my machine packed up and everything. : /

    Hi all! I made the sample tonight and if you haven't cut the pin cushion fabric out and are going to use the 3x6 tile cut to 7.5" long. It is useable at 7 but will be easier with the wiggle room

    How big a weight will fit in the pincushions? I'd rather bring something non-edible to put in there so as not to encourage silverfish to hang around in my sewing area.

      The size of the pincushion will be up to you since you'll be making it. The fabric requirements of 7" x 4" would accommodate a 6" x 3" tile. However, if you wanted to use something square you can adjust the fabric and the shape :)

      Some ideas for non-food items that are not size dependent:

      * Marbles
      * BBs (gun ammo - they're just metal balls)
      * Glass gems (those glass beads used to fill vases)
      * Washers
      * Nuts (metal kind that are used with bolts)

      Hope that helps!

    Not a dumb question! Yes, the Techshop machines will not be available. Please bring your own or maybe someone in the group has one you can borrow?

    When do you think will have some instructions and fabric requirements for the scrap bag?

    Id really love to make a scrap bag, as my sewing tends to be garment in nature and I want to expand on that.

    Hi everyone! Are there any preferences for what we make this weekend? I was planning a scrap bag but am wondering if another UFO day is in order.

    I wish I could be there, but I have to work. :(
