Concepts and Coffee at TechShop Detroit

Show your community what you're making! "Concepts and Coffee" happens at TechShop Detroit the second Saturday of every month. Bring in a project for Show and Tell and talk shop with other members of the maker community. Then take part in an open mic "town hall" discussion and Q&A. We welcome both members and non-members.

Get to know your maker-neighbors -- there's no telling what cool things it could lead to!

This is a free event hosted by TechShop Detroit and is not affiliated with any other groups or companies. Visitors to the shop must sign waivers to enter the shop. Questions? Call (313)[masked].

I am a high school engineering teacher. I had an idea over summer to create a maker faire style event for girls kindergarten to seventh-grade to encourage them to try engineering and technology field. I have never created an event before, so this is very new territory for me. I'm hoping to get some feedback and make some connections on how I can make this a successful day.

    This month's presenters are:

Karen Sisolak - Owner of Plymouth Puzzles, LLC

Karen loves puzzles. So much so that she started her own toy company based in Plymouth, Michigan. Since last October, Karen has been building her company to design, create, market, and sell carved wooden puzzles. Come to Concepts and Coffee to hear her story. Martin Derry - Concepts and Coffee Founder

Marty loves car racing. One problem is that you have to get the race car to the track in a big unwieldy enclosed trailer, when combined with a gas engine pickup truck, it gets a measly 7.9 miles per gallon. Come to Concepts and Coffee to hear how he is going to fix that the Techshop way. Come to Concepts and Coffee for these presentations, meet some new people, and exchange ideas. Bring a friend!!

Hi Martin - I had talked with Ashley about presenting an idea I have at concepts and coffee. How do I go about getting on the "list?" Thanks

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
