VIA/TechShop h3D Space Demo Day

  • September 25, 2013 · 6:30 PM

TechShop and VIA are hosting a demo day to kickoff a very special collaboration between the 2013 VIA Festival + TechShop + YOU: h3D Space

h3D Space is an audience interactive project that will happen LIVE at the VIA festival's pop-up site Friday Oct 4 + Saturday Oct 5, where TechShop has developed a motorized human-sized Lazy Susan that will rotate guests at a consistent speed, allowing you to strike any pose you want for a custom 3D scan.

Attend demo day to get an exclusive preview of how 3D scanning works + get your scan in the mix early for VIA + meet friends of VIA and TechShop!

Learn how to use the Xbox Kinect (a motion sensor for video games), and Skanect (scanning software) to produce 3D scans of your face, body, and objects.

TechShop will also demonstrate use of Zbrush, a 3D modelling software, to mess with your scan data and create 360 turntable files from them so that the viewer can see the whole story.

Your scans will be incorporated into the live video mix for VIA's showcase nights on Oct 4 and 5, and will also be available for download after the festival.

This event is open to both members and non-members of TechShop Pittsburgh. For first-time visitors to the shop, please check in at the Front Desk to sign up for a 15 minute shop tour.
