Do you know up to 10 million people in the US suffer from uncontrollable tremor? Hear how LiftWare that is making a real difference in the quality of life for people suffering from movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease or Essential Tremor (ET).

If your loved ones suffer from this condition then you must attend this talk to learn how to help them.

Lift Labs has developed a new device with a non-invasive active stabilization technology that can cancel the user's tremor by stabilizing an object being held.

Google has acquired Lift Labs, the company that created a spoon to cancel out shakiness and make it easier for those with hand tremors to eat.

Clinical trial testing has shown tremor cancellation on average of 70%. This not only significantly improves a patient’s functioning, but can also restore his dignity. This talk will describe the formation of Lift Labs, their core technology, and their current success with initial users.

Speaker: Anupam Pathak, PHD, PE. Founder/CEO of Lift Labs.

"It really boils down to the impact, what I wanted to do. I was really working on technologies that had a lot of applications but I chose to pursue this one because it has such a direct impact on somebody's quality of life."

Anupam Pathak became passionate about developing new technologies for social impact. Lift Labs has just launched Liftware, an active cancellation system that allows people to function despite debilitating hand tremors that neurological conditions bring.

Anupam received his BS and MS from UC Berkeley, and his Ph.D. from the Univ. of Michigan. He studied a diverse range of topics within Mechanical Engineering, including materials, controls systems, thermal science and design. Outside of work, Anupam loves to teach hands-on science to children. In the past he co-founded a non-profit called Explorabox, whose mission is to provide hands-on science kits to children growing up in economic hardship.

My mother has tremors and I was looking forward to for this talk. Anupam turned out to be a very humble personality explaining the product. I was interested in medical reasons and technical details of the product. Though the presentation was short compared to the last one, I was glad to attend this talk and was much more delighted when the organizers decided to give the one sample device Anupam had brought with him, to me as I had requested in the feedback form saying "Need one for my Mom". My delight was shared by those who came to look and try the Liftware product I was holding. Also thanks to co-organizer Chang Liu who personally came to talk to me about the device. My heartfelt thanks to all the organizers. I will give my feedback to Anupam and you all once my mother uses this product. I have been attending these events once a while for its beer, food and technology but never thought it would get so personal.

      Hi Shiva!
What a great son you are! Thank you so much for joining us and sharing the idea that may help thousands in the future! I truly appreciated your kind words and wonderful support for this event. I am very excited to know that the spoon will help your mother with her daily life. Please share her feedback with me and would love to meet her in person at the future events! Wish we could do more for those in needs and help them in any aspects that we can. My ability is limited but the power of TechXploration community with 4200+ people is not. Welcome to the family!
      With love. Chang

I worked on some of the earliest versions of Active Noise Reduction for the Military. Very interesting to see these feedback-control concepts integrated into the Internet of Things.
