Why do you believe in Philadelphia's future?

We live on a rapidly urbanizing planet -- 70% of us will live in cities by 2050. Philadelphia has all of the elements that can make urban life sustainable, inclusive and a model for innovation and progress. We also have all the elements that hurt us -- poverty, exclusion, unfair and antiquated tax system, an inflexible and tradition bound political and civic system and the lack of a commitment to all of us being in this together. So, we can wallow in the problems or work on the strengths of Philadelphia to make a city that works for all of us and can be a model for others.

I have been involved in a range of social justice efforts, including universal healthcare, development of The Benefit Bank Online Service and a range of projects that solve complex problems by creating social enterprises and inclusive public policies
