Black Girls CODE Video Game Challenge : Volunteers Needed!

Black Girls CODE will be presenting their first 6 week series workshop in Atlanta starting March 9th, 2013 and we need your help! This Saturday workshop series will be based on the National Video Game Challenge where BGC will help girls ages 12 and up to develop STEM based video games using SCRATCH. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors for girls throughout the 6 weeks. Below are the details and requirements for those interested:

1. This is a six-week session of classes on Saturdays from 10am - 2:30pm beginning March 9, 2013. ThoughtWorks will be hosting these sessions in their Atlanta office.

2. There will be only 16 girls with 4 teaching assistants (TAs) assigned to 4 girls at one time. Thus we need 4 TAs for each session. However, for the first session, scheduled for March 9th, all volunteers must be in attendance and you will be there for 6 hours. The remaining Saturdays will be 4.5 hours. Please review skill requirement for TAs below. If you feel you are qualified, please send an email (as indicated below) and/or refer anyone with these skills.

3. Because this is a six-week session of classes, we're hoping that everyone will commit to at least 2 Saturdays between March 9th and April 13th. It does not have to be consecutive, but March 9th is mandatory.

Skills required for TAs/Mentors
IT/CS degree
Programming Skills with C/C++, Java etc
Experience with Game Design/Development preferred but not required
Some experience with Game dev software Scratch, Kodu, GameMaker
