Come check out the newest gallery opening of this month's Artist in Residence, Kevin Hietala!
About the Artist:
I'm a Digital Media student at SJSU, and as such most, if not all of my art has some digital aspect to it. I like to create work that has a sense of humor to it, and I love to include an interactive element to engage the viewer. Until early this year my work was purely digital for the most part, with much of it being videos or games made in Flash or Game Maker. For my sculptural work I've done this with the use of Arduino and fairly simple inputs such as photocells and potentiometers. The use of digital tools such as 123D Make and more common tools such as vacuum forming has allowed me to bring my work out of the virtual space despite not having been taught in many traditional assembly processes such as woodworking and ceramics and the like.
In addition to our gallery opening, come see the rest of our members who will be in the lobby this Friday, exhibiting -- and selling -- some of the amazing things they have crafted at TechShop.
