Hike Comments: The trail to Josephine Falls has recently been reopened by the Forest Service. While the trail can eventually take you to Jones Park, we’ll be hiking to the falls’ overlook and then returning the way we came. Read over the trail description and judge your own suitability to do this hike. From the intersection of Lower Gold Camp Road and Bear Creek Road, we’ll hike up High Drive to the point where it is closed to all users, then pick up the Bear Creek Trail (#666) and hike to the overlook of the Falls. Later we'll return the way we came. Where to Meet: We will meet at the Walmart on 8th Street; park by the store sign near the intersection of Lower Gold Camp Road and 8th Street. I’ll be driving a Silver Toyota RAV4. From there, we will carpool to the parking area for the hike, which is near the intersection of Gold Camp Road and Bear Creek Road. Directions to Trail Head: From the Walmart, head west on Lower Gold Camp Rd for 3.5 miles to the intersection of High Drive, Bear Creek Road, and Lower Gold Camp Rd. Park on the side of Bear Creek Road, just east of the intersection.
Things to remember: Hiking boots, hat, hiking poles if you use them, sunscreen, sunglasses, food, water, backpack/fanny pack, rain jacket, and camera – dress in layers.
