Bicentennial Mall Tennessee History Festival

Let's meet at the 10th annual Tennessee History Festival at 10:00AM Saturday October 19, held in the Bicentennial Mall near downtown Nashville.  http://www.nashvilledowntown.com/do/tennessee-history-festival1

This is a free and interesting event for all ages and features many reenactors, outdoor displays, and events.  We could meet by the large round polished stone pictured in our logo at the top left.  I'll wear my white shirt and blue cap with red visor.  Thanks for suggesting this, Travis!

The exhibitors and reenactors did an outstanding job and enjoyed talking with those visiting their display booths. Tennessee history from the exploration by Hernando de Soto through World War II was interesting and well presented. Periodic light rain did not dampen the spirits of the dedicated historians!

Thanks for the description of the WWII Veterans Memorial, Maria. When we meet on Saturday I'll bring everyone a copy of the note my dad kept that was given to the troops embarking on the Normandy invasion.

fyi...the large, round polished stone is part of the WWII Veterans' Memorial. It is a 9-ton granite globe etched to depict the world as it existed during WWII, with boundaries and country names, etc. The globe sits on 1/8" of water under 9 pounds of water pressure and rotates in alignment with the earth's axis. Not meant to sound preachy, just a history buff and great respecter of WWII veterans. I have out of town guests next weekend, but hopefully can coax them to visit this event.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
