Book Discussion -The Forest Unseen by Dr. David Haskell - 3 part series

Tennessee Wild is partnering with the Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center's (CA&NC) brand new School of the Field & Woods for a 3-part discussion on the excellent book 'The Forest Unseen' by Dr. David Haskell. Dr. Haskell is a professor of Biology at Sewanee: The University of the South in nearby Sewanee, TN. The book follows the author’s close observations over the course of one year of a one square meter patch of old growth forest on the Cumberland Plateau in southeast Tennessee. Dr. Haskell won the 2012 Natural History Literature Award by the Natural Outdoor Book Awards. There is a video link to the book trailer below.

Participants will discuss this book during three evening sessions. February 7, February 21 & March 7. There is a $15 fee for participating in the chat, which will be led by retired educator Pat Fountain. TN Wild will receive a portion of those proceeds to support our efforts to protect the Cherokee National Forest.

Pre-registration is required. Please RSVP here and call the CA&NC at[masked] ext 0 to register. Space is limited. The CA&NC has copies of this book for sale. You are free to purchase the book where you like, or check it our from the library (if available). The book is not included with the $15 registration fee.

We will be planning a second discussion of this book later in the spring. Those details are not yet available. They will be posted here when they are.
