Little Frog Wilderness Hike - Saturday April 5th @ 9 AM

Please join us for the Little Frog Wilderness Hike. This will be our first wilderness area hike of 2014! We will start our day meeting at the Pilot Travel Center off of exit 20 on I-75 (US-74/Cleveland Exit) at 9 AM. The formal address for the Pilot Center is 281 Pleasant Grove Rd - there will also signs for the Ocoee river. After everyone arrives at 9, we will then caravan to the western trailhead. There is sufficient parking to leave half of our cars as "shuttles" so that we can use them to get back to the eastern trailhead.

After positioning some vehicles at our ending location, we will start our hike around 10 AM at the Rock Creek Trail and follow that for 4 miles to our lunch spot. Please bring a lunch to enjoy at the halfway point! Tennessee Wild's Caitlin McClusky will be updating everyone about the Tennessee Wilderness Act of 2013. After lunch, we will continue in the same direction we came in and climb out of Pressley Cove -at the junction of the Rock Creek Trail and the Benton Mackaye Trail, we will be at the boundary of the NE Little Frog Wilderness addition!

We will then head south on the Benton MacKaye Trail and return to our vehicles which will be staged at the Thunder Rock Campground.

This is a moderately strenuous hike with some elevation gain of approximately 7 miles, so come prepared with water, a lunch, and appropriate clothing.

There are only 10 spots available on this hike, so please keep that in mind and RSVP!

We are looking forward to you joining us!
