Due to overwhelming demand, we have added a second paddle trip. The first is Saturday July 14.
This trip has been many months in planning! We are very excited to hold this outing with our business supporter Mark Parker at Kayaking Plus.
This trip is a 12-mile scenic paddle suitable for all ages. We will paddle the beautiful Hiwassee River between the Hwy 411 bridge and just above the confluence of the Hiwassee & Ocoee Rivers. The trip generally takes between 3-4 hours. We will meet at the gravel parking lot across from the Hiwassee corner Market at 2:45 PM and drive a short distance to the Hwy 411 bridge over the river. The timing of this trip coincides with the release of water from the dam upstream, allowing us to comfortably paddle this section of the river.
This trip is designed for the individual who is interested in paddling, but doesn't have a kayak. Mark Parker and Kayaking Plus run regular trips for scouts and fisherman. He has 14 kayaks and will lead this trip along with Tennessee Wild Summer Intern Mike Frazzitta.
The trip has a fee of $30 per person - and includes rental of the kayak, a guide, and a personal flotation device (PFD). Please consider coming out with us and beating the summer heat on the beautiful Hiwassee. It will be a blast!
