Groundhog Day early bird urban hike & coffee social (after)

Join us on Groundhog Day for an early morning hike along the Blue Blazes Trail in Chattanooga.  This 1.5 mile loop trail is part of the Moccasin Bend Archaeological District, which is a unit of the National Park Service.  This easy trail offers great views of the Tennessee River and Lookout Mountain.

Just added! Storyteller Michael Gray will be joining us and will share a story out on the trail!

Logistics:

We'll meet in the Whole Foods parking lot at 7:30 and carpool over to the trailhead at 7:45 am.  It's a short 3 minute drive from Whole Foods to the trailhead. After the hike, there will be an optional coffee back at the Whole Foods. We should wrap up no later than 10 am to leave the remainder of the day for errands or other activities. Join us!

Maybe we'll see a groundhog!

I really enjoyed it! Even though I am one who hybernates in the winter - it was good to get out! Watch for a story in the Chattanoogan.com!

Well, I have been off this week and will submit a story Sunday or Monday. Other than my writing assingments I write a personal column of 'my' life and things I do or think (it started when I lived on Long Island) I write it weekly. That is what it will be in. I write in the "Happenings section" and it will be under "Jen Jeffrey". I am writing the story today, and it is about my trail ride and today's event. I will send the link when it goes live. :-) If any of you guys want to follow my stories, you can go to 'Jen Jeffrey writer' on Facebook and see my stories. Thanks for today, I had a blast!

Fun, intrepid group. It was 24 degrees as we started. The trail was frozen, the river was high, and so were the spirits. If the trail hadn't been frozen it would have been a quagmire. Saw a White Tailed Deer, lots of tracks, and found a beautiful cardinal feather on the trail. Thanks to all who attended and joined us for coffee afterward.

The weather for Saturday looks good! It may be in the 30s as we hike so dress appropriately!
