Join us for a easy hike at Montgomery Bell State Park, according to the "60 Hikes within 60 miles of Nashville" book the hike is about 7 miles. However, we will be taking a slightly different route, making it perhaps around 9 miles. There are no major hills or tricky footing, or significant water crossings. We will travel portions of the Overnight trail, Ore Pit Loop Trail, and some connecting trails. We will see Creech Hollow and Lake Woodhaven lakes, pass the overnight Woodland shelter, one or two cemeteries, an old stone church, and a log cabin replica. We also will pass through an interesting area that was all torn up for ore pit mining many years ago. Parts of the trail follow old horse and wagon trails.
We will take our time and enjoy the scenery and take photos. I have done the full trail several times before and always enjoy it.
Several of us hiked this a few months ago and we had to navigate off trail to find a different way to cross the river due to a missing bridge. However, the bridge has been rebuilt and I expect no difficulties.
