See downtown Nashville and its landmarks on foot and up close! Our weekly urban hikes have become a popular trek for beginners and expert hikers alike. This is a wonderful opportunity for first-time visitors to see Music City !!!
Departure Time @ Thai Phooket: 6:30 p.m. SHARP (unless we have a good reason to wait)
Distance: 5.2 miles
Hike Time: 2 hours
Join us for a walk from Thai Phooket, past LP Field, over the Cumberland River, through Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, into Germantown, back through Bicentennial Mall, past the State Capitol (via 240 steps), through downtown, past the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, across the Cumberland River via the Shelby Avenue Pedestrian Bridge, once again past LP Field, then back to Thai Phooket, where we experience an excellent (optional) Thai dinner.
This "hike" is for beginners and experienced hikers, alike. Feel comfortable walking fast or slow. We'll try to stay together, but when the group gets large enough, we often split into two (or more) groups with an experienced member "sweeping" the trail. We'll try not to lose anybody, but please call me if you get lost. We do this for fellowship, exercise, and fun. The hike pauses at selected locations, so we may regroup and permit those who need a rest, time to catch their breath. The hike resumes when I am comfortable that everyone is ready. This also helps assure that we don't lose anyone along the way.
All are welcome to stay and enjoy a great post-hike Thai dinner. I think it's best Thai food in Nashville.
Dress for the weather, wear comfortable footwear, and bring some water as necessary. See downtown Nashville up close, stop the world from spinning in Bicentennial Mall, and ring the State Capitol Liberty Bell (it is loud and fun!).
