This tennis group is a non-profit organisation. We have about 30 members who are not from our Meetup group. On average about 15-25 turn up each Saturday depending on the weather etc.
We play doubles tennis only.The club is NOT DESIGNED FOR BEGINNERS.We would encourage beginners to have 3 or 4 lessons and to hit up against a brick wall whenever you get the chance.The group is designed for INTERMEDIATE level players and above.
We are a KEEN bunch of players and will not be put off by a little drizzling rainshower.Ring the Fawkner Park Tennis Centre if you are unsure as to whether the tennis is going to be on or not.It needs to be raining VERY heavily for us to cancel the event and we will wait until about 12.30pm on the day to decide.
The group has been around for at least 30 years before this Meetup website was established. The money we collect from our members covers court hire,quality Slazenger tennis balls and our insurance premium.
We charge $12 to play ALL day (up until about 7pm in Summer!) and $5 for ONE set if you just want to get an idea of your standard and/or fitness level.The artificial courts are of a high quality and absorb quite a lot of rain.
Most players get at least 3-5 sets and feel they have had a great workout.You'd have to be fitter than Mark Edmonson to want more!
The purpose of having this Meetup website is to improve the quality of our Saturday afternoon Social Doubles Tennis.
Tennis is one of the best ways to socialise with others and get some fab exercise.
