We're looking for single, divorced and widowed men and women 40 years and older who may not be as physically fit and active as they once were, but who haven't lost their love for tent camping and socializing around a smoky campfire. If you have a physical/medical handicap that prevents you from keeping up with other rigorous outdoor groups, we're the group for you.
Our members enjoy the primitive, quiet nature of camping in tents. We gravitate towards NY state parks that provide campsites covered in soft grass and pine needles rather than gravel or concrete. Thus far, our camping trips have been local, less than a week in duration and include weekday and weekend trips.
Our group has a variety of interests including calm-water kayaking/boating, exploring, cooking, wine tastings, fishing, light hiking, reading and playing cards and board games. You'll never hear one of us shout "Grab your gear, everybody! We're climbing that mountain today!"If you're seeking that level of physical exhaustion from a camping group, keeeeep looking.
All you need is your own tent, small camper or pop-up, some basic equipment, a sense of humor and the ability to entertain yourself. Whether you're an experienced camper or a novice who has never camped before, we'd love to have you join our happy and laid back group. If you're married to a spouse who refuses to camp, you can join too. No children. No large RVs.No pets.
Newbies to tent camping can click on Message Board under the Discussions tab at the top of any page. I have included a list of very basic camping equipment you will need to get you started. You can also contact me at any time with thoughts and concerns.
To help cover the costs involved in running and promoting this site I charge an annual fee of $5 to every member. The first 30 days are free, so it costs you nothing to check us out.
*****IMPORTANT***** Please use a real, recognizable photograph of yourself when you join our group. We insist upon it for safety reasons. A photograph of a flower, landscape, tree or anything other than a photo of your face is not acceptable. We will remove any new member who ignores this simple and basic courtesy.
