Wreaths Across America Motorcycle Escort

  • December 15, 2012 · 6:30 AM

A very special part of the Wreaths Across America - Houston event is the arrival of the wreaths.  The wreaths take a week long journey coming from Maine on our dedicated trucks to Houston.

Early on Saturday morning, on the day of the event, the trucks line up and several hundred motorcycles fall into formation to form a rolling tribute.  The police escorted procession travels to the cemetery where the trucks will be offloaded and the wreaths placed.

If you would like to be a part of this very moving rolling tribute, please be sure to check their website often.  As the event draws closer we will be able to finalize plans, routes, and times.  You will be able to download a waiver, maps, and schedules for the escort through their website as the information becomes abailable.

I hope you will join us as we honor our American soldier...One wreath at a time.

This was a moving new experience. Placing the wreaths was heartwarming. The ride from Porter was great. Waiting for the program to start at the cemetary was not so great. As always, the best part is being with our TFR friends. Lunch afterward at BJ's Brewhouse was fun and the food was very tasty.

are you progressing up clay to w. sam tollway? What time will you pull out of Clay and Fry Valero? I could meet at HWY 6 and Clay or Clay at W. Sam Tollway if one of those works for anyone.

Sorry 'bout that... it's not a driveway... but its driveway does meet the feeder road... as I indicated.

I would like to suggest meeting at the "Taste of Texas" parking lot for the west side group. It's driveway meets the eastbound feeder road of I-10 just east of Beltway 8. From there the procession can go East on 10 to 610 or 59 or can go north on the BW 8 to US 59. I understand a southside group may be meeting somwhere as well, and we could meet that group somewhere else. I live near West Oaks Mall, so there are many options that would work for me, such as SH6/I10 Waffle House, but since we will all be moving North and East to Porter, I think the BW8/I10 location would work well. Incidentally, only motorcycles are allowed in the escort, if I read the WAA info correctly.

The tribute starts early in the morning on Saturday the 15th at the Porter Walmart. At 6:00am the staging begins and they roll out at around 7:15am and head for the cemetery.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
