Brian, I'm sorry but I cannot make it this weekend. My Mom's cat had gone into renal failure and I thought he was not going to pull through, but he has recovered. That's good news for him but bad for me because now I have to stay here to medicate him, etc. I hope you all have a great time.

There is little to no cell phone reception there. GPS may work via satellite signal.

Does anyone have a handheld gps device? If so, would you mind bringing it with you? I would like to do some geocaching and would love anyone to join me if interested. Thanks!

    April 1, 2014

    • Kristin

I usually use my phone for geocaching but may not get a decent signal out there.

Who else in this group does rock climbing? I'm debating on bringing my equipment and putting my kids on some walls, but want to know if others would be interested in participating. You would need your own harness and shoes, I have everything else needed.

I looked at the Doris Campground and it says some sites have electricity and some don't. Brian, this is my first campout with your group. Can you please tell me what we do once we arrive? Will we drive to Doris looking for you or someone else? Then, you will direct us to our campsite? Thanks!

Hey brian i just wanted to know if the person getting there first would need to pay for the additional nights since you wont be there until friday night? That happened one other time so i just needed to be sure. Thanks!

      March 31, 2014

    • Brian J.

Good question - this reservation is fully paid in advance so they won't want any money when we get there. Of course, I will be expecting donations from those who haven't paid their yearly dues. ($8 / night / person camping)

My Meetup group just camped the weekend at Area B and we hiked looking for crystals. (Crystal Ascension) If you want a good campfire, there is a lot of dead wood around but you need a chain saw to cut it up. -The pavilions have electricity, lights and 4 tables but the showers are cold and hard to find.

Hi I would love to come but would anyone be able to give me a ride up there? I can't get away until about 6pm Thursday evening though.

    March 21, 2014

  • Dan B.

Hey, who is bringing the big-screen TV and satellite antenna so we can watch March Madness Final Four?

    March 21, 2014

  • Linda J.

Brian, can you please tell me when we need to send in our deposit? I want to ensure my rsvp. Thanks!

    March 9, 2014

    • Brian J.

Hello Linda, There isn't a camping deposit for this trip since the group area is very large. But I will call for a deposit about 10 days in advance of the trip for those who want to eat BBQ with us. Even that deposit will be refunded to dues-paid members who attend.

Now that you did Cedar Hill without them, you coming to this? If you haven't made it to this place, I highly recommend you put it on your list to do.

      March 7, 2014

    • Ellen

I did make it without my boys and had a great time at Cedar Hills, but think I will stick a little closer to home than the 4 hours to this one.

  • Linda J.

Brian, will our campsites have electricity?

    March 2, 2014

    • Brian J.

Good question but I really don't know. I would check their website and see. We are staying in Group Site A. It has a large pavilion so you would think there would but you never know.

      March 4, 2014

    • Paul

If its group site A directly after you enter the gate, there was electricity in the pavilion when I was there last year. There are trailer camp sites with electricity also.

Yes, but we are working toward an on-line payment. Stay tuned for more details. - Brian

      January 6, 2014

I need to know about on-line payment as well. Own a checking account, but don't own checks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
