Thanks to all who came out to 11th St. last night, especially the new guys, Ajay and Manny! Two key missions of Lone Star NYC is to help newly-arrived Texpats make sense of this big, crazy city; and to network amongst ourselves to help grow our respective businesses, and I'm pleased to say that both of those objectives were met last night!

With the holiday season upon us, we're only going to meet formally one more time in 2010. The next meetup at LSNYC-HQ, 11th St. Bar, will be held on December 9th at 6:00 p.m., and it will also serve as our Holiday Party, falling as it does right between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm looking at the roster, and see 67 LSNYC members listed there, so let's end the year with a bang by filling up the back room at 11th St. with Texans! If enough people RSVP, I'm betting the bar's owner - San Antonio's own Roger Herr, whose last feat was to bring in a big haul of Shiner Bock - to extend some drink specials to the group for the occasion.

Other note: Soon, the official countdown to the Lone Star NYC migration to Facebook will begin. Facebook not only provides a cleaner, more efficient platform for the group to operate from, but it also allows the position of Organizer to not be a short-straw proposition. In our respective stints as organizers, Tom and I have come out of our own pockets to keep the group alive here on Meetup.com, choosing to take personal hits instead of charging admission to the events to cover our fees. We still prefer to keep the events free, and that's why it makes sense to make the move.

Thanks to those who have already joined us on Facebook. For the rest, please take a moment to log in, click this link, and join us on Facebook before our current Meetup subscription ends.

-Jim
