Songkran Festival 2014 -- Maryland - Thai New Year 2557!

Thai Songkran Festival 2014!

Based on some of our past experiences at this annual event (see the 2013 event), this is an interesting experience & delicious food!  There will be many meetup groups going.

The website for Wat Thai is here:

Some people may need rides... update if you can offer a ride, or if you need a ride. The closest metro station is Glenmont.

The festival info in the past has said: "Parking: Free parking at Wat Thai, Barrie School. School yellow shuttle buses will pick up passengers in front of the Glenmont Metro garage and drop off from all parking locations."

How to get there & park & find us:
Lots of people wind up parking in the local streets, and here is what the entrance looks like from Layhill Road to the side streets - street viewclick here. (Red Line).

Keep going north on Layhill Road, and the location is on the left (west) side, as shown in this street view:

We'll meet near the circle - at the steps in front of the temple - and the circle is showing in the center of this satellite viewclick here for view.

People can meet at the circle in front of the temple, or if arriving at another time, enjoy the experience on their own. It will be crowded, especially from the nice weather. Allow time to get from where you park/ride to the event. And you can bring your own water, etc. - it will be warm.

What is the deal with getting wet? If you have gone in the past, was it good and would u go again

You will not get wet there. I went there last year, it's a great place to mingle with Thai people and enjoy authentic Thai food. However, you might need to be there early in order to avoid the long line when you try to get some food :)

Yes I agree me and my gf got there last year in the late afternoon. We must of waited almost 90 minutes in line. The food was delicious

Update - confirmed via someone who knows a vendor who goes there every year... it will be larger than last year (when it was under construction) and will be on the 13th. As far as the getting wet with water question... nope, although maybe if you splash on purpose. You can see the water pouring in this photo from 2 years ago -

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
