Food Drive For The Corona/Norco Rescue Mission

Hi everyone,

last year's toy drive was a great success, a lot of fun and a very rewarding experience. Everyone expressed a desire to do it again the following year, so I have been in touch with Steffanie at the mission. She told me that food, laundry products, toiletries and diapers are the missions biggest year round needs. That being said, this year The 909 Scooter Club will collect those types of items and donate them to the mission for the holidays. While we are at the mission, we can also have a little Christmas party for the residents there. We can bring Christmas cookies, candy, punch etc. and the residents that are interested can join in the party. We are still working on the date at this time. We can meet for breakfast first and then head to the mission.

I got lost in "Cow Country" trying to avoid the freeways on my scooter and was late getting to Polly's Bakery so I missed the meetup. I have the canned food that I was going to give to the mission. Does anyone know how to get there? My computer said it's at 420 W. Harrison in Corona but I couldn't find it. HELP!

Thanks Sandy for doing this again. There's been great progress at the Mission since last year, and I'm glad our group was able to donate to the Mission to help others.

Dan, the mission could use grocery store gift cards. Or perhaps gift cards for Target/Walmart.

Please post what you've purchased here, so others will know. That way we can try and get a variety of the missions needs.

Just spoke to the mission. They serve 20 to 30 homeless people a meal every night as well as the residents that live there. Here are things they are in need of.

Extra large cans (think Costco or Smart and Final) of:
    corn
    green beans
    tomato sauce or paste
    beans (kidney, pinto etc)
    ravioli
    chili
    fruit cocktail

    Other items:
    cereal
spices of any kind (extra large size)
    milk
    bottled water
    bread
    salad fixings (green or fruit)

    Cleaning products: window cleaner
    bathroom cleaner

They also stated they could use "new resident" packages consisting of towel sets, sheets and toiletries to be given to the new families that enter the shelter.

Sherry, can you get to Corona without using the freeway?

There is a way to get to Norco from Murrieta w/o taking the fwy. Is anyone here riding from Murrieta area? If not maybe I can trailer it to Corona.
