There are many groups and individuals involved in local food security issues and activities in Alachua County and surrounding counties: Non-Profits, Farmers Markets, Community Gardens, CSAs, Food Banks, Faith Communities, Local Businesses, Educational Institutions, Local Governments.
There is an energy in our community that is getting stronger to Think Local, Act Local, Grow Local, Buy Local. But, not every involved group or individual knows about each other or about the wonderful work that so many of us are doing in our community.
The time is now right for all of us to come together and form a community-wide network where we can meet each other; learn about our missions, projects and services; share and grow together as we spread the word to all our neighbors about the exciting things that are currently happening or that are in the planning stages to promote food security for all of the citizens of Alachua County and surrounding counties.
The Permaculture Guild of Alachua County is invited to be a part of the Gainesville Area Food Network. We will have a Community Forum to formally get the network established on Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Community Center at St. Patrick's Church, 500 NE 16th Avenue, Gainesville.
We hope that you will be able to send a representative to the forum, along with an information display for the Permaculture Guild of Alachua County.
Please invite all people that you know who are involved in Food Security activities in our community to the Community Forum and become a part of the Gainesville Area Food Network.
