Let's discuss what we want out of the Group.
Family Paths is a non-profit agency in Alameda County, with the mission of strengthening family relationships by providing mental health and supportive services with respect, integrity, compassion, and hope. Family Paths has a vision of a safe and secure home for every child, and believes that mental health and supportive services for families move us toward that vision.
The Family Paths board is seeking enthusiastic members to help in the board’s objectives of overseeing the agency, providing vision and governance, and helping the agency work in accordance with its mission. The Board supports the work of Family Paths and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Family Paths Executive Director, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.
We request a time commitment from our board members of 4-8 hours per month. We hold bimonthly meetings on Thursday evenings and board members to serve on committees that meet outside of these meetings. 1-2 times a year a weekend retreat is held, lasting 4-8 hours.
The ideal board member:
1. Has time and enthusiasm to devote to serving on the board
2. Believes whole-heartedly in the principles and vision of the agency
3. Brings his/her own vision and creative ideas to the table
4. Has excellent teamwork and communication
5. Has extra skills or experience to bring to the board in any of the following:
a. Legal
b. Business
c. Accounting
d. Social services
e. Fundraising
f. Networking
Our board strives to reflect the diverse backgrounds of the population we serve. People of color are encouraged to join.
