From: AWAKEN TO SUPERCONSCIOUSNESS
by Swami Kriyananda
"From a practical point of view, what the meditator comes to realize is that he doesn't need to reach outside himself for divine succor. All he needs is to remove the coatings that cover his consciousness, and that protect his ego from the staggering challenge of omnipresence while comforting him with the delusion of his egoic self-sufficiency."
The great yoga master, Paramhansa Yogananda described the ego as "the souls identification with the body". In meditation we let go of the senses to reconnect to our personal relationship with Spirit from whence we came.
