December 8th- Chapter 6: The Inner Body - "Being is Your Deepest Self" (p107)
December 15th - Chapter 9: Beyond Happiness and Unhappiness There is Peace - "Impermanence and the Cycles of Life" (p182)
December 22nd - Chapter 5: The State of Presence - "Christ: The Reality of Your Divine Presence" (p104)
December 29th - Chapter 3: Moving Deeply into the Now - "End the Delusion of Time" (p48)
The discussions are ALWAYS lively and interesting.
Acceptance of the Now
"To some people, surrender may have negative connotations, implying defeat, giving up, failing to rise to the challenges of life, becoming lethargic, and so on. True surrender, however, is something entirely different. It does not mean to passively put up with whatever situation you find yourself in and to do nothing about it. Nor does it mean to cease making plans or initiating positive action.
Let me give you a visual analogy to illustrate the point I am making. You are walking along a path at night, surrounded by a thick fog. But you have a powerful flashlight that cuts through the fog and creates a narrow, clear space in front of you. The fog is your life situation, which includes the past and future; the flashlight is your conscious presence; the clear space is the Now."
Our meetups are a weekly opportunity to remind ourselves we already KNOW all this good stuff and chat with other humans about lessons learned, stumbling blocks, and brilliant insights. We laugh at ourselves and share our "ah ha's." We ask questions and get suggestions. We have a small core of returning Tollers, and we ALWAYS welcome newcomers.
Meetings are held weekly to build continuity, though there's no pressure to attend every week. I update the Tolle topic about every week, and it may be just what you need to remember in the now you check in.
