Art Project with recycled material

Since it is so much fun creating something, why not use empty wine and beer bottles of various colors (I am sure we all have plenty of those!) to make everyday useful items? I was thinking coasters, trays, glass etc by crushing the glass and mixing with cement and letting it set in a mould.

Thanks Brooke for suggesting and booking the location! I suggest that we make this a potluck event so that once we have spent all our creative energy making wonderful things out of scrap, we can tuck into some yum food. If everyone could come with a dish and drink to share it would be great!

For the creating part of the day, please bring:

Empty bottles, ceramic mugs, plates etc

Thick gloves

Spatula/knife/trowel for spreading

Plastic bowl for mixing, mixing stick

Hammer

Trash bag

I will get the cement and plywood that would be required to make the base of the pieces. The cost will be divided equally amongst all creating the pieces. Does anyone have a saw that we could use to cut the board on that day? (and the expertise too..:))

It promises to be a fun creative day and I look forward to seeing you there!

This sounds like a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to it. Can you post the address for concourse hall? I'm not sure where that is.

That's a great idea! Old vases/coffee cups and other glass "crushables" could be purchased for cheap at a Salvation Army thrift store and I'm sure they'd be glad to sell some of that stuff.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
