Some of us would like to go to the DIA on Friday, July 13, from 6-9p for the DIA event Drawing in the Galleries. They provide complimentary materials with an instructor with an admission ticket. We will be in the European/Medieval Room.
If at least ten of us are going for sure (so far I think we have 13 going) the DIA is willing to have me prepay on my credit card for a group rate. I would have to pay by Friday, July 6. So if you want a $1 discount (down from $8 general admission for non-Detroit residents) you can make arrangements to pay me $7 prior to when I have to pay them. The easiest way I think to pay me is via my PayPal account. You can send me an email on here if you are interested.
If you are a Detroit resident and have some form of state id to show, you get in for free anyway on Friday's.
If you don't want to bother you can come and pay $8 general admission. I think they accept cash and credit cards. You still will have access to everything.
There will be live music. A puppetry event (Puppet Slam) going on where various puppeteers showcase their talents. A cash bar. Cafe DIA (buffet style food and drinks with nice seating) will be available from 5-9p where I think they accept cash and credit cards. They also said Kresge Court (drinks available for purchase and maybe some light snacks with nice seating) may be open as well. I think they take cash and credit cards also.
We are all at different skill levels so I think this would be a lot of fun to play around with doing some art at the Museum. I know other artists/artistic people that do this and they really enjoy it.
By the way, they said today that the rooms they do this in change every Friday. Something to think about for in the future if we want to do it again.
