Motown Museum, MBAD African Bead Museum & Lunch at Bucharest Grill

Motown Museum:  www.motownmuseum.org Admission $15 ($12 with a group of 20+)

Link: http://www.mbad.org/

This museum is only open Monday through Saturday from 12PM to 7PM.

Anyone like to go on a Saturday? I don't think this meet up would last more than an hour or so. We could pair it with something else? I know the Motown Museum is near by or maybe to a walking tour through the Fisher Building.

And close the day by enjoying a late lunch at Bucharest Grill http://www.bucharestgrill.com/

We missed you last week. I was the only one asking around and going up to people! A bit of a fiasco, but we'll get this right some day.

I had a great time and enjoyed meeting several new people. Although I wish we had a better plan as to how we get together. A I went around to both venues I met totally different folks and learned I missed more.

Carol, I agree the coordination could be better. Perhaps if we all met somewhere nearby first, then go to the venue together. Also I appreciate punctuality, but there needs to be a 5-10 minute grace period for finding the venue and parking.

Loved the outing. Our whole group did not connect before the tour of the Motown Museum.

I had a great time. I learned and enjoyed both venues, made some new friends and am so glad I participated.

Hello? Are we heading for the bead museum now? Are we a group?

    Where is everyone?

Carol and I are standing out in front of the museum in the shade she's wearing a bright pink sweater and I have a rose colored short sleeve shirt

Are we just going to the Motown museum or are we still doing the bead museum too?

    May 19, 2015

The Motown Museum is one venue, the Bead Museum is another. If the hours begin at noon, why would we start out at 10?

Motown Museum is open 10-6. The bead museum is the one that doesn't open until noon.

I don't think we should wait until the spring, because it is mostly an indoor meetup and seems like most people are interested in going soon. There are many others to plan after this if we want.

I really want to see the African Bead Museum and would love a tour of the Fisher Building.
It is one of my favorite buildings in Detroit!
I would like to find a date for this outing cause I think it would be fun. I do lots of beading and I am very interested in African Beads.
We could even go to a Detroit landmark for dinner after. I will not be able to attend from March 9-16. I think I'm good for any other dates.

you might like to plan for the spring/summer...there is a large outdoor installation to walk and see as well. I love this place. https://www.facebook.com/africanbeadmuseum

Other suggestions along Grand River area:
    - tour of Grand River Corridor murals (between Warren/Rosa Parks)
    - tour of Bucky Willis' Lindale Gardens projects http://www.bleedingheartdesign.org/
-Brightmoor neighborhood projects- Talking Fence/Illuminated Garage, and youth gardens

These are GREAT ideas. Even if the group does not plan an event around this I may attend. I am ready to meetup soon!!

Looking forward to "soon" attending this event.

I'm occupied on Saturday through the second weekend of November, but this interests me. Other museums to pair to also sound good (DIA, Historical, Motown, other). I'll watch for a firm date.

Sounds interesting. I'd only be able to attend on a Saturday. Anyone want to carpool?
