Maybe a bi-monthly trip to area art museums like:
DIA is always good. dia.org (new exhibit june 1: http://www.dia.org/ca...)
UMMA (http://www.umma.umich...) T-S 10-5, Sun 12-5.
http://www.art.wayne.... (Summer hours Tues-Fri noon-5pm)

For hands-on art:
DIA: every friday evening 6p-9p they have "drawing in the galleries" where you get to draw what you see in a different room each night.

Pottery/tile making: http://www.pewabic.or...

Hi Rebecca. I am a new member to this group and saw your posting about the DIA events where you can draw in the galleries. I've done it before on my own but would love to go for their special times. If you are interested in coordinating to go with me let me know. I would love to go there on a Friday evening and draw. It's important to me to keep my skills up as an artist, be exposed to new things, and meet new people. Let me know if you are interested. Maybe you and I can coordinate making it being an official meetup for this group in the future. The more the merrier as they say. Lol.

Hi, Petra. Sounds good. Looking at my schedule and the DIA, July 13th or July 27 or Aug 3rd would work. The 13th they also have a music concert at 7 and 8:30, plus puppets at 8pm. I haven't drawn in quite a while, but would love to try it out again.

Hi Rebecca. Glad you are interested. I am also talking to Lee about this. July 13 sounds the best if they have music and puppets, too. Lol. I'll send Lee an email about July 13. Would you like to post the suggestion on here or would you like me to do it?

I'm excited because I haven't drawn at the DIA in a while. :)

Thanks,
Petra

Oh, and I talked to the DIA today and if we have to pay to get in we may be able to get a group discount. I'll be following up with them about it this week coming up.

Also, I get invites to private parties from them. If you are interested let me know.

I can schedule it if that works (I run another meetup, so know how to use the site pretty well). Or you can, whatever is easier. We should mention the yearly membership fee for Art People to support the Meetup setup fees Gopa pays. Looking forward to the 13th!

Hi again. July 13 sounds great. I'll create a thing on here inviting everyone. I'd like to get the experience of doing it. Lol.

I was researching on the DIA site last night. I think it would be about $12 for us to get in if we have to pay full price. All the materials are included (that's why it is $4 more for general admission). They also have instructors I think available to help us.

It is from 6-9p. They haven't posted the July schedule but we always can call and confirm as it gets closer or check the site again.

I know Lee Rohrer and Diana are also interested. I also sent a message to Gopa about it all asking her opinion. I'll send everyone emails to follow up also.

Thanks. I am looking forward to it also.
