The New York Singing Teachers Association will invite 5 singer-pianist duos with a history of partnership in art song to work with legendary pianist, conductor, and educator Martin Katz. All periods and all languages are welcome.
Participants must be at an extremely advanced, pre-professional or emerging artist level. Please submit the following to Elizabeth Saunders at firstname.lastname@example.org:
MP3 or online link to 2 or 3 classical selections in contrasting styles and languages representing the singer-pianist partnership
Résumé or bio of both singer and pianist
Photo of singer
Proposed repertoire choices: a minimum of three art songs in contrasting styles and languages.
Martin Katz has been dubbed "the gold standard of accompanists" by the New York Times. His 40-year career has taken him to 5 continents, collaborating with the world's most celebrated singers in recital and recording. Marilyn Horne, Frederica von Stade, Kathleen Battle, David Daniels, Karita Mattila, and José Carreras are among his regular partners, and he has recorded for the RCA, CBS, BMG, EMI and Decca labels.
